Sandar Khaing is known for her characteristic nudes, often depicting the female figure but her interest also extends to the male body. Khaing has said of her interest in the nude genre:
“Even standing at a bus stop, I saw people in this way. I undressed people in my imagination. I didn’t care whether the person was beautiful or not. I imagined it would be very nice to paint pictures of them, observing their body structure. I painted in my imagination. I observed everybody I came across—fat people, too.”
Khaing has presented a new series of small nudes (18cm x 25.5cm or 7x10in), part of a limited series of unique acrylic on canvas paintings where she depicts the male body in a sensual and sensitive manner.
