Zaw Win Pe’s signature medium is oil applied with a knife which gives the vibrant hues an extraordinary physical quality. The streets of Rangoon can be sensed in Zaw Win Pe’s works but only just. The excitement of urban life is more evoked than described while the quality of the oil medium is the protagonist in these small but expressive works.

About Zaw Win Pe
Zaw Win Pe was born in 1960 in Lè Gaing, Myanmar. He graduated in 1964 from the State School of Fine Arts in Yangon and he studied under the masters U Kyaw Hlaing, U Ba Yin Galay, U Mya Aye and U Win Pe Myint.
Zaw Win Pe’s signature medium is oil applied with a palette knife and his works show vibrant colours, with the occasional thick impasto, and strong compositions.
